- Disaster Relief for affected Students of the Sichuan Earthquake -

In May 2008 ERWEKA handed out the scholarship for the past academic year at the Shenyang Pharmaceutical University in North China. It is the second year in a row that ERWEKA committed to support students in China.

The nomination of the ERWEKA Awards went to two post-graduate students; five scholarships were granted to graduate students. All seven students performed outstanding results in their studies on dissolution testing, as well as in their researches on quality assurance in the pharmaceutical industry.
Every year a handful of elite students are graduating from the Shenyang Pharmaceutical College and will lead the way in the development of the Chinese pharmaceutical industry. Still in their infancy, Chinese pharmaceutical companies are predicted to enter the global stage in the coming years. As analysts predict, China will be the 5th largest producer of pharmaceutical products in the year 2011. For ERWEKA this is a good reason to invest in the future of the Chinese and International Pharmaceutical Industry.

This year the ERWEKA Award Ceremony was overshadowed by the earthquake in the city of Wenchuan located in the Sichuan Province, South West China. Wenchuan was the epic centre of this disaster and seven students of the Shenyang Pharmaceutical University were affected: Some of their families in Wenchuan lost their goods, chattels and income, some of the students lost members of their families. ERWEKA is grateful to grant a donation to these students, which might help to continue their studies at the Shenyang Pharmaceutical University.
